Baby's foot

Children today increasingly face health challenges from a young age. These can range from the mild to the quite severe. Acupuncture can safely be used on children on a variety of childhood ailments and problems. Marianne has undergone additional paediatric training in very gentle Japanese techniques known as Shonishin. These techniques use tapping on acupuncture points and stroking along the channels. A gentle laser may also be used to stimulate a point. Sometimes extremely fine needles may be used but on the under 5’s will not be retained for more than a few seconds.

To enhance and hasten the effects of treatment parents may also be taught techniques that they can use at home.

Acupuncture is also effective in adolescents, and many girls find acupuncture beneficial during the first few years of menstruation.

Marianne will only treat children and young people under the age of 16 with a parent or guardian present.

If you have any questions as to how acupuncture could help your child please contact me.
